Ok. here's what i remember, di can add details later. :)
So it pretty much rained all week and it was cold at some points. Not very pleasant vacationing weather. :(
i picked up di, jules & lor like at midnight on sat/sun and took them to their hotel...which turned out to be quite dampish & moldy smelling. not very pleasant. settled in and went to bed.
Day 1 (Sun)Went to DingTaiFeng for brunch on sunday and had to wait 40 mins for a seat!! From there, walked to CKS Memorial Hall where we saw the changing of the guards and a dragon made out of soda bottles. Then we walked to a traditional market nearby where we could try this taiwanese dish that my mom had suggested cuz it's supposed to be different (DingBianCuo). it was ok... Went back to the hotel and shopped at the mall nearby (Mitsukoshi) until it was time for di & jules' wedding album appt. Picked out dresses for their photo shoot. Afterwards, went to di's grandma's and met some of her relatives (i made a boo boo telling the cab driver where to go). Stopped by GongGuan nightmarket on our way back to the hotel.
Day 2 (Mon)Di & Jules had their photo shoot till like 3pm. Then had an early dinner with di's dad and aunt. Then to ShiLin nightmarket to have the super yummy HaoDaDa Fried Chicken Filet (HUGE). And other yummy snacks. And shop...of course! :)
Day 3 (Tues)Took them to my favorite DaoXiao Noodle place. mmmmMMMMmmm. Then I forget what else we did...but we bummed around in the hotel room for a while before we went to KTV at nite. oh yeah. we went shopping in TienMu (the international area) in the afternoon and stopped by the very very pretty HagenDaz store for ice cream fondue!
KTV = very plush! very very nice facilities! our own bathroom connected to the room and a nice BIG room for just the 4 of us. but disappointingly few english songs and took forever to play too...i had to sing quite a few chinese songs (cuz they came really fast) while waiting for the other songs to be found and stuff.
Day 4 (Wed)- went to DanShui during the day...had fun shopping (jules & lor enjoyed one store there in particular) then cabbed over to fisherman's wharf which we completely empty but Lover's Bridge there is very pretty when lit up.
- helped di & jules pick 20 photos from 120 proofs for their wedding album :)
- went to Snake Alley nightmarket to see the live snakes that are used to make dishes...or drink snake blood or whatever. but we didn't try any! majorly ick!! there were also LOTS of sex shops. it's a pretty ghetto area.
Day 5 (Thur)- visited ShiDa area for food and it was POURING. Had sweet crepes at taiwan's famous crepe store but none of us were impressed.
- went to Taipei 101 to gawk at the very posh mall and to dry off and use the pay phone to check email! very neat. too bad we didn't get a pic of it.
- rain stopped in the evening and we went out for a midnight snack of traditional chinese breakfast foods (Soybean milk, chinese doughnut & Shao Bing, FanTuan, etc). yummy. :)
Day 6 (Fri)Putzed around taipei.
Went to GuangHua market...the electronics, dvd/vcd area...but didn't get anything (the chinese soaps i wanted were out of my price range). Then showed them where to get ice cream mochi. Walked to DaAn Park (lots of trees) and bussed down to check out some of the great outlets near ShiDa. Then walked to Ice Monster for a strawberry ice w/2 scoops of yummy strawberry ice cream & 1 scoop of mango ice cream. After that, tried to play cards at a cafe to pass the time (somewhere warm, cuz it wasn't raining but it was quite chilly), but the worker told us we couldn't! even though other ppl were like SLEEPING and we weren't making any NOISE. so weird.
